What coaching isn’t?
Coaching is not Therapy
Coaching is forward moving and future focused. Whilst therapy deals with healing pain, dysfunction and conflict within an individual or a relationship between two or more individuals. Therapy outcomes often include improved emotional/feeling states. While positive feelings/emotions may be a natural outcome of coaching, the primary focus is on creating actionable strategies for achieving specific goals in one’s work or personal life. The emphasis in a coaching relationship is on action, accountability and follow-through.

Coaching is not Mentoring
If I were to share expert knowledge with you so you can emulate and improve your skills in a specific area or task, then this would be mentoring. Although some coaches provide mentoring as part of their coaching, coaches are not typically mentors to those they coach.

Coaching is not Counseling
Here people are helped through past-based issues or conflicts by the counselor listening to and giving feedback. This differs significantly to working with a Consciousness Coach as Counseling is issue-based not goal-focused.
